Well, he HAD done the washing up when I got back.
He'd also emptied the bins and tidied up a bit - so that was good.
BUT...
He was still here when I walked through the door this evening.
Apparently the whole family reunion thing was cancelled this afternoon at 4pm. By all accounts, the relative who was coming from Canada was in a car crash on the way to the airport.
Nick received a text asking for £4,500... to be sent to a school in Nigeria!
Sound a bit fishy to anyone? Sounds like a big old scam to me!
Nick was a bit stressed when I came in trying to think of how to raise funds... until I asked why a relative flying from Canada was in Nigeria (not a natural stop-off point from Canada to the UK, surely!) and why a hospital was asking for £4,500 for an operation which the Canadian embassy should be dealing with and why indeed would a hospital ask for it to be sent to some school!? And why text and ask Nick?
I think that its likely this relative's phone was nicked and this is all a big scam. Hopefully his other relatives aren't falling for it and haven't paid anything. Poor buggers from Canada are probably freezing their arses off at Heathrow waiting for Nick and unable to phone because they've had their mobile stolen!!
Maybe this will be a little bit exciting after all!
