My car is back on the road again!!!
Wahay!
I am so happy!
And the conversation with the RAC Customer Services worked; I booked an RAC transit to be at my Mum's for 7-8am to tow me off to the garage for 8-9am.
I set off from home at 6.30am and got to Mum's at 6.50 and there was an RAC man waiting for me!
It was early so we had a chat about what had happened Friday and the cock-ups Saturday and he suggested that he remove the radiator anyway to make sure it was just that. If it was he'd take me to a car parts dealer that he knows to buy a new one and he'd fit it for me.
Turns out that it was the radiator and the AC condenser that were damaged. I'm not too fussed about having AC anyway - that's what windows are for isn't it! So off we went to get the radiator and the coolant for a grand total of £109.
A far cry from the £280 quoted by the garage in Essex for changing the radiator and massively cheaper than it would have been for the Vauxhall dealer in London to do it (they would have changed the AC unit too, regardless) which would have cost £400+!
So thank you VERY much Mr RAC man. You have gone a long way to restoring my faith in the RAC after Saturday's fiasco!
